Listening to a debate where a guy just said that evil proves the existence of God. Huh? “Evil wouldn’t existence in the absence of God” … How neat of you to think strange religious man.

The reason for this is (now bear with me because I’m reading this while lacking the context he said it in) that it’s widely known, for Christians, that there is a Satan. Satan is this kind of toy that God now uses so that people can still have free will, I mean if there was no Satan there would be no “Umm, I don’t know if I want to choose Jesus as my Saviour” because really there would be nothing else for you to choose because there wouldn’t be anything but God’s way (though even those don’t who believe are still somehow part of the plan) and there would be no sinning that was hiding us or tempting us away from God.

Another point would be that Satan tends to attack those who are a threat to his kingdom, i.e. people who follow Christ. I never really noticed how much wrong doing was going on around me before I became a Christian because I was right there in it with no remorse. I said hurtful things, I had terrible intentions and I didn’t really care about much else than my own drama and social life. Then I became a Christian and it was la-de-da, rainbows and sunshine kisses at first until I really felt like I was coming under attack in my life and I realized it was because Satan really noticed that I was changing, that I was actually turning my life around so he came after me. I DIGRESS.

God created life but he also gave every person the power to choose and Satan had fallen because he chose a path away from God. I know that a lot of people like to combat with the question, “Well why doesn’t God just destroy Satan?” I’ve asked the same thing myself but I finally understand that God wants us to chose him, he wants us to step away from the temptations in our lives that cause pain, it makes him feel more loved and I’m sure he rejoices when he sees how proud we are of ourselves for doing so. People continue to abuse the free will that they have and I also hear a lot of “Well if there is a God than why am I suffering so much?” when in most cases, it’s just a matter of people missing the fulfillment in their lives, their time came but they didn’t accept Christ and so they felt bitter toward a God they didn’t know or it’s that they’ve kept falling into temptation over and over or they mistake another force in their life for the work of God.

Anywho, I just thought I’d give some insight because I thought this whole thing was silly before, granted I lacked understanding of both sides at the time. Hope it sparked some more questions in your head or got you to see the argument a little differently or perhaps none of the above made an impact on you and I totally took a different meaning out of this post than you intended it for. Lol.

(Though if he meant that if God just poof, disappeared one day that there would be no evil, he was sorely mistaken.)
